Day 3

Alive Again

by Russell Cleveland

During the Christmas season, we are naturally drawn to think about the birth of Christ.  After all, the birth of Christ marks the beginning of the fulfillment of God’s plan for salvation for those who believe in Him.  Ultimately, this plan would lead to the brutal death on the cross that Christ suffered on our behalf, but it is His resurrection from the dead that provides hope for us.

1 Corinthians 15:22 says, “For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive.”  When Adam sinned in the Garden of Eden, death came into the world.  As a result, we are all born into sin (in Adam) and because of this, we will all die, like Adam.

The beautiful part about this verse means that although, like Adam, we were born into sin, God gives us the promise that we will be made alive again in Christ.  This simply means those who believe in Christ as the Son of God, who was killed and then was raised from the dead, will be made alive again to spend eternity in Heaven in the presence of God.  Placing our faith in Christ not only saves us from the penalty of sin, but makes us worthy to spend eternity with Him.

Question to Ponder: Does your life reflect an understanding of everything Jesus did for you?

Prayer:  Father, thank You for Your love for us and for the opportunity to ponder the birth of our Savior during Christmas.  Give us depth of understanding so we may be able to give You all the glory You deserve and that we may be able to easily share the love of Christ with others.
