Day 36
Abide
by Kristen Oliver
If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. (John 15:7, ESV)

In John 15:7, Jesus invites us into a profound relationship with Him, one that is rooted in abiding in His Word. This verse holds a beautiful promise for those who choose to remain connected to Christ and allow His teachings to shape their lives.

To "abide" means to dwell, to remain, or to stay connected. Jesus calls us to remain in Him, to be deeply rooted in His love, grace, and truth. When we abide in Christ, we open ourselves up to experience the fullness of His presence and power in our lives.

The key to abiding in Christ is allowing His words to dwell richly within us. The Bible is not just a collection of ancient stories or moral guidelines; it is the living Word of God. As we immerse ourselves in Scripture, meditating on its truths, and allowing it to shape our thoughts and actions, we create space for God's Word to take root in our hearts.

When we abide in Christ and His words abide in us, our desires align with His will. We begin to see the world through His eyes, and our prayers become an overflow of His desires for us. Jesus promises that when we ask in accordance with His will, it will be done for us. This is not a blank check for our every want, but a reminder that as we align our hearts with His, our prayers become powerful and effective.

Abiding in Christ's Word also means living in obedience to His teachings. It is not enough to simply read and understand the Scriptures; we must also apply them to our lives. As we walk in obedience, we experience the transformative power of God's Word, and our lives bear fruit that brings glory to Him.

Today, let us commit to abiding in Christ's Word. Let us make time to study and meditate on Scripture, allowing it to shape our thoughts, attitudes, and actions. As we remain connected to Christ, may His words dwell richly within us, transforming our desires and aligning them with His will.
Questions to Ponder: Do you abide in Christ daily? Do you spend time studying and mediating on Scripture? Do you pray that your will aligns with His?
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for the invitation to abide in You and Your Word. Help us to remain connected to You, to dwell in Your love, grace, and truth. May Your words take root in our hearts, transforming our desires and aligning them with Your will. Empower us to walk in obedience, that our lives may bear fruit that brings glory to You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
